May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and an excellent time to reflect on the celebrate the importance of access to high quality mental health care. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, over 60 million U.S. adults (23.4%) experienced mental illness in 2024, with anxiety and depression being the most common, and suicide claims over 700,000 lives annually.
There are many barriers to accessing mental health treatment, including lack of insurance, cost of the care, limited resource availability and stigma about asking for help. The Tipp City Foundation is proud to support local providers who are working to serve our family, friends and neighbors.
This year, New Creations Counseling Center, Inc., received grant funding that assists with counseling and psychological services for those with financial need.
The Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development, received funding to replace the emergency paging system at this center that serves children and adults diagnosed with brain conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, birth trauma, autism or conditions that impact development.
Eagles’ Wings Stables, Inc., received funding for their programming that builds brain/ body connections for people using this equine-assisted therapy program.
In addition to direct service providers, The Tipp City Foundation has provided grant funding to important community supports that provide critical supports to ease stress, loneliness and financial stress, such as The Tipp City Senior Center, New Path Food Pantry and Bethel Hope, Miami Valley Dental Clinic, youth programming and other community partners.
We are proud to support local partners in providing compassionate, high quality care and support to those who are struggling. We are stronger together.
If you or someone you know is struggling and needs help, please call 988 for 24 hour access to help.

Fridays are for introducing our newest Tipp City Foundation Board Members.
Today, we are introducing Sarah Gillenwater. Sarah grew up here in Tipp City, and is the owner and founder of Yoga Barre & Co, in addition to her work in graphic design. Sarah is deeply rooted here in Tipp City, and we are thrilled to benefit from her passion and creativity. Welcome Sarah!
Sarah's favorite quote:
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” -Eleanor Roosevelt
A person in Sarah's life who has influenced her:
"I would say my grandmother had the most influence on me. She was a very strong and generous soul. She never over complicated anything. She taught me that when someone needs something, you show up in whatever capacity you can."
A person who inspires Sarah now:
"I wouldn’t say there is just one person who has inspired me. There are so many people that have come into my life for different reasons and seasons and I believe that collectively has shaped who I am. I’m definitely one to sit with people where they are. I love to hear stories, swap ideas and share advice collectively."
Advice Sarah would you give to a young person today:
"Give yourself permission to change your mind without it feeling like failure is connected to the decision. You can and should change course as many times as you need to."
Sarah's favorite thing to do in her spare time:
"I’m a homebody. Home is where I love to be. I love to draw, read, hike and listen to music. All the introverted things."
Sarah says serving on the Tipp Foundation is meaningful for her because:
"Serving on the foundation is a great way to give back to the community where I grew up. There’s not better way to be a part of my hometown than to give back in this way."

Fridays are for introducing our newest Tipp City Foundation Board Members.
Today, we are introducing Cameron Haller. Cameron recently left his position as Fire & Emergency Services Chief with the City of Tipp City. He joined the city in 2019, and led the Fire & Emergency Services Department through major transitions. He is continuing to serve our community through his new role with the Tipp City Foundation.
Cameron's favorite quote:
"In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him" is attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson,
Core Message: The focus is on finding wisdom through observation and respecting the human experience.
The person in Cameron's life who has influenced him and shaped his perspective:
"Rich Wallace a Historian and Lawyer by trade and mentored me from 2016 until his passing in 2025. He had the ability to meet me where I was and improve every aspect of my life via Biblically based Leadership. He was a true Servant Leader."
People who inspire Cameron now:
"Pope Francis recently and Pope Leo currently. I have always admired Oprah. She was able to create an empire from humble beginnings and remains generous to this day."
The advice Cameron would give to a young person today:
"Write down and live by your values. A good start is humility, integrity and service above self. "
Cameron's favorite thing to do in his spare time:
"Backpacking on the Appalachian Trail (Churn is my trail name), spending time at Crooked Lake with our family, and walking my dog Riggs."
Cameron says serving on the Tipp Foundation is meaningful for him because:
"My life sentence states, "I want to Love and Serve all whom I encounter." This statement is a result of studying Dr. John Maxwell. An opportunity to serve and be a small part of distributing funds to those serving others is a wonderful opportunity to be kind and make a positive difference."
